I figured I might as well post these. These tests were done back in February and March 2010.

Having just watched the “remastered” CBS version of The Doomsday Machine what you’ve put up here even unfinished completely blows away what they did.
Even unfinished, I have to say well done, sir!

I have to add that the footage featured on the bottom You Tube video is nothing but pure beauty. I would dearly love to see the finished project on the big screen. This is the Star Trek I know and love done right, true to the original and yet much more epically realised.
When you get to the part when the Constellation moves under her own uncertain power don’t forget to make her bow drop and and rock up and down a bit before she settles into more controlled movement. I mentioned this before, the bow drops down and the back of the warp engines kick up kind of like the way helicopters take off. You’ll be the first person to get the movement of the ship to match what goes on inside.

Very nicely done sir, and I agree with Patrick’s comments above in regards to the effects regarding the constellation reving up her engines, and why not? After all Scotty was using warp drive controls to manage the impulse engines, so why not the rocky start? Keep up the great work!

I came across a video of your work on YouTube (“scott gammans enterprise” by SpockBoy) and was thoroughly impressed! Your work is truly great, and I hope you keep it up.
I agree with a comment on the above YouTube video — I wish your work could be substituted into the new movie instead of their cumbersome redesign.

Hey Prof –
I love what you’ve done, and dying for the rest. I know Doomsday has taken a hiatus, but please consider finishing it? It is truly inspired work, and you have a wonderful sense of spatial relationships in your re-imaging. I showed your 1/3 episode to my teenage son, who is less than impressed with TOS, and as we finished your act 3, he said “..Wait -that’s all you have!!???” He was totally hooked, and your wonderful effects work really ramped up the already great episode. Wonderful work!!!!

Whew!
Not much happening here lately!

It’s called “real life”
Also, I am under orders from the missus to finish a four-year backlog of HD camcorder videos before I’m allowed to return to this, so it may be a little while longer!

Your work is absolutely gorgeous. One of the many faults of the CBS reimagineing is that the new effects don’t match the production design of the show! However, your work is seamless and gorgeous. The only thing I want to see is Enterprise self-illumination and for the balls on the nacelles to glow when powering up to, and moving at, warp speed.
Do you do CGI for a living?
Live long and prosper.
(You better: we want to see you complete this and get started on Elaan of Troyus!)

Oh, and I really love your white paneled Enterprise as opposed to CBS’ gray, metal Enterprise.

I really do hope that you continue to finish Doomsday. What a masterpiece. I think you’ve really captured it. Frank

Interestingly, a Yahoo!Search for Star Trek Online screenshots of the Planet Killer led me first to the orthographics you had made, then the site proper! This is a fascinating project you’ve got here! I hope to see it completed! I myself am of the mind the vfx in both the TOS & TOS-R versions fell short of the intended length; a vessel capable of swallowing a dozen starships whole. I would like to know the scale you used and your reasoning; please email me at Commodore_Sarvour*at*yahoo.com. If yould like I’ll send you a copy of my rationale that I’m send to EAS for review.

My Planet Killer is 8900 meters long with a maximum outer diameter at the “maw” of 1854 meters. I picked this scale somewhat arbitrarily; it just “looked right” for easily swallowing a dozen Constitution-class starships.
I’m glad you enjoyed the work I published. Unfortunately, real life and also a loss of interest have struck, and it’s on indefinite hiatus.

I absolutely enjoyed your variation and enhancement of the “The Doomesday Machine.” WHere are scenes four thru eight? Have you this available for release to purchase this episode? Excellant work. Thank you.

This is some excellent work! I counted 19 phaser strikes, its easy to see why the Constellation’s Phaser Banks were exhausted. I really love the look of your planet killer as well as your Enterprise. You capture the look of TOS very well! Thank you!

I must apologize to you, sir. I was under the impression that ‘ProfMoriarty’ was a nom de plume for Darin Dochterman(who has his own ‘Doomdsay Machine’ CGI remaster imitating the original episode’s AMT model kit) . I saw your name on your YouTube channel homepage and apologize for the incorrect assumption. I also hope that you will continue your remaster of ‘The Doomsday Machine’-your work is SUPERB! Please consider posting at least the Special Effect/Space Scene Shots-if they are as good as your previous posts, they could well be the best ‘Doomsday Machine’ remaster out there! Thank you and hope to see more of your work!
I am also a middle-age Star Trek Fan(44 yrs old)-and ‘The Doomsday Machine’ is my single most liked episode! I bought the remastered CBS version($99.95) mostly just to get ‘Doomsday machine’! Yep, I’m hooked…..
Thanks, and keep doing what you do,ProfMoriarty!
With much respect;
-Larry
